What makes a good Ideogram 4.5 prompt?

Use a subject, setting, style, light and composition, then add exact words in quotation marks and any exclusions. These are starting points supported by seven individual runs, not a tested formula for success. The two new images with quoted text spelled those words correctly. Four of the seven images also included unrequested additions, so inspect the result before using it.

Questions about prompts

How do I get exact words in the image?

Put them in quotation marks and say where they go. Both pictures we ran that way spelled every quoted word right. To stop extra text, say so: the tin prompt ended with “No other text” and came back with none; the poster prompt did not, and gained two lines.

Does the model follow “no” instructions?

Partly, in our runs. “No vehicles” and “no text” held. But birds appeared over the desert road, people in the harbour sketch and two tea leaves beside the tin, none of which we had asked for or ruled out.

Does quality level change how a prompt is followed?

We cannot say. We ran one prompt at low and one at high, both different from the medium ones, so there is no like-for-like comparison.

What does a prompt cost to run?
